Stator and rotor laminations: stamping, interlocking and coating
How slit non-oriented strip becomes stator and rotor cores: progressive-die stamping, in-die interlocking, insulation coating and the inspection in between.
Motor and generator cores are built from non-oriented electrical steel, because the magnetic field rotates and the material needs similar properties in every direction. Lower-loss and thinner grades reduce iron loss, which matters most at higher operating frequencies. Standard grades such as Baosteel B50A470 or B35A300 suit many industrial motors; thinner high-frequency grades are available on request.
Progressive-die stamping and interlocking
Slit coils feed automatically into high-speed presses. A progressive die punches the slots, bore and outline in successive stations, so stator and rotor laminations are produced continuously from the same strip. With in-die interlocking, small embossed tabs lock each lamination to the one below, and the die delivers a stacked core of the set height without separate welding or riveting.
Insulation coating and inspection
Stator cores can then pass through our automated coating line, where an insulating layer is applied to the slots and cured. This gives uniform slot insulation and can remove the slot-liner step on the customer’s side. Lamination profile, slots and burr are checked by vision measuring, critical dimensions by CMM, and stack height and parallelism by height gauges; inspection records can ship with the goods.

Send the lamination drawing (DXF or PDF), the grade and thickness, the stack height, whether you need loose laminations, interlocked cores or coated stators, the annual quantity and the destination. We will review the die, the process route and the price.
